Tokyo-based retailer Mita joins adidas Consortium for the ‘Cages and Coordinates’ Pack. A new version of the NMD joins a contemporary take on the Stan Smith. Given their last collaboration was back in 2016, this upcoming release is expected to be hugely sought-after.

Images were recently leaked but here we take an official look at both styles which launch this July.

The first half of the collection brings futuristic vibes in the form of the Mita x adidas NMD TS1 PKI. This is unlike any Nomad released yet. Celebrating elements from Mita’s retail location in Tokyo, wire cages replicate the same structures used to display footwear.

This is one of few NMDs to feature a toggle-pull lacing system – an unconventional approach that makes the design even more unique. Vibrant bursts of colour are stamped to the EVA plugs and a clear outsole manages to balance the look underfoot.

Whilst still a homage to the old school, the Mita x adidas Stan Smith does boast contemporary detailing. Take for example that metal zip along the sidewall or what appears to be a random sequence of numbers to the heel. These are actually coordinates to the Mita store in Tokyo as well as adidas’s headquarters in Germany.

The adidas Consortium x Mita ‘Cages and Coordinates’ is hitting retailers on July 14th. Keep it locked to @thesolesupplier for more updates on the run up to launch.
