In a recent interview with Forbes Senior Editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg, Kanye West took the opportunity to unveil literally HUNDREDS of never-before-seen Yeezy sneakers, with some that are samples and some that will get a release in the very near future. Describing the line as the “Lamborghini of sneakers”, it’s estimated that the Yeezy collection will do $1.5 billion this year. Yes, that’s billion with a “b”.
During the interview, we were given a glimpse of a ton of Yeezy silhouettes. The brainchild of Yeezus himself and his team of talented designers, we took a look at a slew of never-before-seen colourways of the 350 V2, the 500, and the 700. A truck load of samples and prototypes were also revealed for the upcoming Basketball, and the hotly anticipated 451 also made an appearance, along with the 700 VX with Futurecraft 4D midsoles.
Eagle eyed sneakerheads will also see what is allegedly the 750 V2, with a mid cut design that replaces the usual thick suede upper with adidas’ signature Primeknit material. Seen here in a slew of glitch camo colourways, a chunky Boost midsole also features down below, lined with gum rubber for traction and durability that’s industry leading.
Speaking to O’Malley Greenburg in an empty Los Angeles parking lot, it was revealed that Mr West still owns 100% of Yeezy, a holding that has made him a centimillionaire “much earlier in life that competitors like Michael Jordan.” At the end of the interview, he gazes at his life’s work in awe, explaining, “There are a lot that I really love. I mean, I love them all.” Let’s just hope that we see these drop soon rather than later.
