With June literally around the corner, Nike has unveiled a batch of summer sneakers with the all-new ‘BETRUE’ pack. Inspired by the LGBT community, the collection features four silhouettes, including the Air VaporMax Plus, Air Max 270, Zoom Fly SP, and the Epic React Flyknit.
The new BETRUE pack prominently features a lavender colour palette along with pink triangles. Lavender is a symbolic reference for the LGBTQ community as a natural colour that blends gender-linked light blue and light pink. Nike explains that the pink triangle was “originally used to identify LGBTQ individuals during World War II and was reclaimed in the ’70s by pro-gay activists and was later adopted by the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) in their memorable ‘80-era ‘Silence=Death’ campaign.”
Due to drop on June 6th, let us know if you’ll be copping the Nike ‘BETRUE’ pack down in the comments section below! In related news, adidas Originals is also celebrating the LGBT community with the ‘Pride’ pack.
