Sustainability is a huge issue in fashion right now. With more clothes and shoes being produced than ever before, it begs the question of how brands will help to curb this detrimental effect on the environment. To help raise awareness Nike have come together with artist Steve Harrington to create the ‘Earth Day Pack’
Launching a Nike Air Force 1, Cortez and Blazer Low, these white sneakers have been created from a Flyleather material. This 50% leather-fibre material is both lighter and more durable than traditional hide. Alongside this, it is far more environmentally friendly.
What sets these sneakers apart is the artwork by Steve Harrington. Creating graphics of the Earth being hugged, carried, or “warming” due to exercise. This symbolic resemblance of global warming is both endearing and worrying simultaneously.
Smaller details include hits of teal and aqua as well palm trees and branding in Harrington’s signature style. Launching closer to Earth Day, April 22, keep your eyes peeled for further release details.
