And just like that, summer is officially over. From Yeezy to Off-White x Nike, the season has been stuffed with some of the most hyped sneakers in existence. With that said, the industry isn't ready to turn the heat down just yet, as August 2019 was filled to the brim with ultra fire trainers.
While there were a lack of fresh collaborations, restocks and general releases took the top place this month, so we've carefully handpicked the hottest sneaker releases of August! If you missed out on any of these, make sure you follow @thesolerestocks on Twitter for the latest and greatest trainer restocks!
The Swoosh kicked off the month with a bang with the Nike Joyride Run Flyknit 'White'. Released on August 1st, it's the first sneaker ever to utilise the Beaverton-brand's Joyride technology, where literally thousands of tiny TPE beads make up the midsole for controlled comfort and response with every step. Paired with a sock-like Flyknit upper and you've got an absolute winner.
The Nike Air Force 1 'Script Swoosh' is one special AF1. Dropped on August 10th, it pays homage to Carolyn Davidson's 1971 concept that infamously cost Nike just $35 to create. Featuring a smooth leather upper that's painted in white, the star of the show has got to be the OG hand drawn Swoosh on the side that's overlaid by a transparent Swoosh for added depth. What's there not to love?!
On August 12th, adidas surprised us all with a shock restock of the Yeezy 700 'Wave Runner'. The shoe that started it all, it was available in all sizes and sold out pretty much instantly. Featuring a unique grey and black palette with blue, green, and orange accents throughout, this will always be one of Kanye West's most loved sneakers, and we're not at all surprised.
Inspired by Michael Jordan's alma mater, the Nike SB Air Jordan 1 Low 'UNC' is made for both the half pipe and the basketball court. An extremely special AJ1 that dropped as part of the Swoosh's skateboarding division on August 12th, it's painted in the iconic 'UNC Blue' colour palette, and features both the "Nike SB"; branding on the tongue and the winged basketball at the heel.
While the Stranger Things x Nike Blazer Mid 'Upside Down' may look like any old Blazer, it's actually got a dark secret up its sleeve. Celebrating the release of Stranger Things 3, it dropped on August 13th and was met with critical acclaim. Featuring a clean grey fabric upper, this can actually be burnt away with a naked flame, revealing a dark denim interior that's a nod to the hit sci-fi drama's alternate dimension, the Upside Down.
Another ultra high heat sneaker restocked this month on August 16th in the form of the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 'LA To Chicago'. Yet another AJ1 that has released as part of the Swoosh's skateboarding line, the more you wear these, the more the colour transforms from an LA Lakers palette to a Chicago Bulls one. This crazy feature alone gives these Jumpman trainers holy grail status.
The Vivienne Westwood x ASICS Hyper GEL-Lyte 'Light Steel' is unlike anything you've seen before. Blurring the line between art and sneakers, the British fashion designer teamed up with the Japanese shoe manufacturer on August 16th to apply the works of French artist François Boucher onto the premium leather of ASICS' most popular runner. The result is truly breathtaking.
After months upon months of waiting, adidas finally dropped the latest instalment to the Desert Rat line with the Yeezy 500 'Bone White'. Hitting shelves on August 23rd, it's like a subtle mixture between the 'Blush' and the 'Salt', and it just works perfectly. Crafted from mesh, suede, and leather, the midsole is carved from a chunky slab of adiPRENE, providing wearers with comfort that's out of this world.
The Swoosh went mad for multicolour on August 29th with the Nike Air Max 90 'Viotech'. Inspired by the Japan exclusive Nike Dunk Low 'Viotech' from 2002, it's painted in a slew of contrasting colours that shouldn't work together, but when you see the shoe in person, everything just complements each other. On top of all of this, an Air infused midsole sits down below for comfort that's truly unrivalled.
And last but not least, we have the Liam Gallagher x adidas SPZL 'Cream White'. Celebrating the lifelong relationship between the former Oasis singer and songwriter and the Three Stripes, this clean crep builds on top of the legendary Padiham SPZL silhouette. Dressed from heel to toe in suede, it's also lined with a slither of gum rubber. To round it all off, a portrait of the alternative rock artist graces the tongue, completing the look.
