Picture this: It's 1985 and Michael Jordan is preparing for his second season in the NBA by playing an exhibition game in Trieste, Italy. At one point, he so forcefully dunks at the net that it completely shatters the glass on the backboard, thus, the birth of the now-iconic 'Shattered Backboard' colourway. Regarded by many as the best non-OG Air Jordan 1 colourway ever, it's now set to grace the Air Jordan 1 Low for the first time ever.
Arriving in the all-too-familiar orange, white, and black colour palette, this version is an exact one-to-one take of the original with a few very minor differences. An orange "23"; graces the throat region, while a white Jumpman hits the tongue, offering a pop of contrast. Additionally, the winged basketball logo that's normally embroidered around the ankle moves towards the heel.
Material-wise, the AJ1 Low 'Shattered Backboard' is crafted from a premium nubuck, while patent leather dresses the Swoosh branding along the lateral and medial side panels. Of course, like the OG pair, this iteration sits atop an ultra clean white Air-infused midsole for comfort like nothing else out there.
