French high-fashion brand Balenciaga recently announced that you can now use cryptocurrency as payment for its products online and in-store. With the mass attention crypto and NFTs are attracting as of late, it's no surprise that more brands are moving forward with their business plans in the digital age.
The plan will commence in the U.S., where its flagship stores will accept cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more to follow later in the year worldwide. While this notable change may sound all-new to some, this is no surprise to many as Balenciaga's journey in the virtual landscape already began last year when we saw its collaboration with fan-favourite video game undefined.
From this, we can expect Kering-helmed labels such as Gucci and Fortnite to do the same very soon. But whatever else Balenciaga has up its sleeves, we're surely here for it!
