Updated 15/5/23 - Turns out we wouldn't have to wait long for the big reveal of the Drama Call x Manchester United collaboration. After teasing the launch last week, the duo has now released our first look at a real piece of apparel from the collaboration. Whether you're a United fan or not, chances are you might be able to appreciate this one.
While most of us expected the first garment to look like the red Manchester United kit from the trailer, what we have a preview of is very different. Donning an electric blue hue, this football kit appears to mimic the club's 1988 away shirt in appearance. Usually, blue colours are reserved exclusively for the club's away and third kits, making this an interesting choice.
On the chest, we see tonal vertical stripes with a "MUFC" imprint subtly featured within. Atop this, the Manchester United crest retains its usual colours, backed up by contrasting white renditions of the adidas 3-Stripes, the Drama Call logo, and Sharp sponsor. On the rear, a large text imprint reads "Drama, 1988, 2023" referencing the kit's original release of the kit. A release date has not been made available yet, but more is expected to come from this release, so keep your eyes peeled!
Original article - After teasing a partnership with a selection of posters placed around Manchester, Drama Call x adidas x Manchester United have seemingly confirmed an upcoming collaboration with the release of a promotional video.
For those who aren't familiar with Drama Call yet, it's an emerging Manchester-based streetwear label that was founded in 2017 by Charlie Bows. Often characterised by its "drama" circular print, Drama Call has become a popular name within the city's streetwear scene, rap music culture and beyond. Now in unison with Manchester United and its kit sponsor adidas, Drama Call has readied what appears to be a fresh rendition of Manchester United's iconic home kit.
In the released video, we see Drama Call's Mascot head to the Old Trafford stadium and explore it with his skateboard. During the video, the character meets up with the Red Devil's mascot Fred the Red, with the two then approaching a collaborative version of the team's football shirt. The shirt itself replaces United's usual TeamViewer sponsor with the Drama Call logo, complete with white detailing found around the neck. The video also offers a short preview of a trucker hat that arrives complete with Manchester United's signature colours. No official release date is available yet, but we're expecting further news within the coming days. In other fashion news, Awake NY Spring 2023 embodies Maytime in the city.
