Love is in the air - at least it is over at adidas HQ. In preparation for Valentine's Day, the 3-Stripe brand has decided to celebrate the event this year in style. Forget the Samba. It's time to embrace the Sambae.
Next, to join the Samba family, the Sambae is adidas' tongue-in-cheek rendition of the footballing classic. Sporting a chunkier outsole, this version relies on subtle detailing to convey its theme. For instance, atop a grey suede upper, we see a pink heel tab, tongue branding, and even a heart-shaped eyelet. Additionally, decorative hearts adorn the inner of each shoe.
The only downside here is we can't help but feel adidas has missed a trick with its signature gold-foil branding. Like cmon. How difficult would it have been to make it say "Sambae" instead of "Samba?" Either way, given just how disappointing Valentine's Day-themed colourways can be at times, we'd say the Sambae is a step in the right direction.
While logic might suggest a Valentine's release date for this pair, they're actually set to arrive sometime in January. Just make sure you don't ruin them by then. After all, you don't want to give your date the ick. Up next, the JJJJound x New Balance 2002R supplies a healthy dose of GORE-TEX goodness.
