Kanye West’s YZY brand has introduced its latest footwear release, the YZY SLPR, priced at an astonishingly low price of just $20. This marks Ye's second affordable footwear offering, following the earlier launch of the YZY Pods; a sock like design featuring rubber traction pods on the sole.
The YZY SLPR arrives just days after adidas scrubbed its website of all mentions of Yeezy or Kanye West, propelling YZY.com to the top of relevant search results. Kanye took to Instagram to criticise his former collaborator, accusing adidas of deliberately obstructing the visibility of his YZY brand.
While details about the YZY SLPR remain sparse, official photos reveal a stark departure from the sculptural, organic aesthetics Ye championed during his adidas partnership. This time, he embraces minimalism and simplicity. The YZY SLPR showcases a streamlined, one piece EVA injection moulded design, ensuring a lightweight build with a smooth foam upper.
The silhouette is a low cut, slip on shoe with a snug fit and an easy entry opening. The outsole features a grooved pattern reminiscent of the adidas YZY Slide, offering solid grip and stability. Sizes range from 2 to 16 in increments of 2, and the YZY SLPR can be purchased here.
Since his split from adidas in late 2022, Kanye West; now operating under his YZY imprint; has pursued independent ventures in music and fashion. YZY has become known for its ultra affordable pricing, with many items, including sweatpants and tops, available for just $20. The YZY SLPR continues this trend, making high design footwear accessible to a wider audience.
