Following on from a highly revered launch with MF DOOM, Supreme has returned with its new weekly launch of the Fall 2023 season. This time around, the New York-born streetwear imprint has tapped British artist Mark Leckey for a capsule that explores British subcultures.
For those unfamiliar with Mark Leckey, he's a Turner Prize winner who was born in 1964 in Liverpool. With artworks discussing the relationships between youth, class, public space, popular media, technology and more, Mark has gone on to develop a number of thought-provoking and revered projects.
The capsule itself is centred around three of his key works. Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (1999) - A film that chronicles British dance movements from the 1970s to 1990s. Dream English Kid, 1964–1999 AD - Mark's collection of fond memories in the form of adverts, TV shows and music. And GreenScreenRefrigeratorAction - a short film that sees Mark drape himself in a sheet and apparently take a lungful of coolant.
Motifs associated with these projects decorate workwear jackets, jeans, shirts, T-Shirts and even skateboard decks. The collaboration is set to release this Thursday, both in-store and online via Supreme. In other fashion news, Clints readies a military-inspired release.
