Let’s not kid ourselves here, Coachella and Leeds fest are very different things. To us Brits, one appears glam; composed; and full of glitter, sparkles and laughter. Whilst the other, well… all we’ll say is that the other is something every 17-year-old must experience before they truly become an ‘adult’. With the vibe, energy, atmosphere and weather being almost entirely different between these two occasions, it’s down to us to find the perfect balance between kitschy Coachella and the gritty UK festival scene. Whether you’re braving it out in a one man tent, not showering for four days, and living off burgers and beer, or just showing your face and soaking up some good music for the day, you’re going to need an outfit that embraces all that you love about festival fashion.
We’ve rounded up some of our favourite celebrity festival outfits of all time, as well as some hints and tips about how to recreate them. Generally, we’ve gravitated towards the hottest Coachella outfits we could find, because let’s be real, these are hella pretty compared to some of our beloved British-festi ‘fits. However, take inspiration from these looks and add a cute bucket hat, a pair of Hunter wellies and a metallic rain coat, and you’ll be ready to rock, or mosh, or whatever.
Dua Lipa, Glastonbury 2019 Dua definitely has the whole ‘rain’ thing down with this matching hat and waterproof jacket. However, there’s an added element of chic, as it’s paired with a sequinned playsuit underneat, donned with a fetching heart pattern. The lining of the Pop Princess' trench comes in that classic Burberry check for a heightened festival look. You can check out our favourite Burberry picks right here .
Emily Ratajkowski, Coachella 2018 Em Rata’s chic, boho look definitely screams Coachella. There’s no way in hell we’d get away with this at Parklife, but it’s cute. Maybe we can save this down as a ‘festival look we could wear to brunch’? Bit niche, but we can work with it.
Shay Mitchell, Coachella 2018 The Pretty Little Liars star keeps cool in a chic, black tie-up top, paired with some white, denim booty shorts. This proves that simple is sometimes best, and you don’t have to go overboard with the festival outfits to achieve style success.
Winnie Harlow, Coachella 2018 Winnie Harlow has been known to strut her stuff in neon green at Coachella, but this look is much more achievable for us. The lace crop top adds that all-important country element (a must for Coachella and Glasto alike) and, c'mon, we all own a pair of ripped, denim jeans. Although, probs not a great option if you’re going to get a bit muddy. Wet jeans? We can't think of anything worse.
Camila Coelho, Coachella 2018 Out of all the outfits on this list, this is probably closest to what you’d picture when you think of the LA-based festival. The Brazilian-American entrepreneur opts for a completely net dress in a nude hue, paired with a couple of chunky boho-style belts and loads of gold jewellery. This is peak Coachella, and with a few tweaks, you wouldn't look out of place at a UK festival either.
Gigi Hadid, Coachella 2019 Model Gigi Hadid takes a much different approach to Camila and debuts one of the most colourful jackets we’ve ever seen. There has been SO much thought put into this outfit; from the mismatching earrings to the mini LV bag attached by the blue carabiner, everything is there for a reason and it works so well! On foot, Gigi is wearing what every single girl, guy and their dog should be wearing at a festival: a bangin’ pair of black, chunky combat boots.
Kendall Jenner, Coachella 2019 This had to make the list as one of the CUTEST celeb Coachella outfits of all time, even though it is totally ridiculous and you defo won’t be found cutting shapes in the middle of a muddy field in this. ‘Nuff said.
Olivia Culpo, Coachella 2019 Olivia Culpo always looks like an absolute dream but this is just next level stuff. AND - this is completely within reach of how you could style yourself for your next fest. Swap out the nude heeled boots for a pair of Docs and cop yourself a thick-denim playsuit. You’ll be onto a winner. Might be a bit of a struggle in the portaloo, but beauty is pain, my friends.
Adwoa Aboah, Glastonbury 2017 Again, no prizes for whether this is Coachella or Glasto. Of course this photo was taken in Somerset! The fashion model keeps it casj in this completely camo ‘fit and makes sure she’s equipped for the weather in a Hunter raincoat. Even if it’s soggy, you can still make the most of the festival vibe by adding a shit tonne of jewellery, a pair of funky sunnies and a cool hat (we understand only the truly fortunate can pull off a beret).
Cardi B, Coachella 2019 Seen here with Offset, Cardi hit Coachella in a ‘fit that didn’t compromise her unique fashion style and this printed Mac would definitely look good on anyone at Glasto. Maybe hit up your local vintage stores to see if they have anything similar before heading off into the wilderness.
P.S: we’re not sure we’d be able to survive Wireless with these nails, but hats off to her.
Hailey Bieber, Coachella 2019 Everyone loves a pair of Vans, right? These high-ups add a splash of colour to Ms. Baldwin’s festival ‘fit from 2019, making sure that the lingerie-cum-casual styling is as comfortable as it is hawt. Her jeans were Levi’s, only correct as the model was attending the Levi’s Coachella party on Day 2 of the festival, and were paired with a matching denim jacket (not pictured). We have to say this trend of fusing vibes into one outfit is what makes all of these festival looks so special. And there definitely appears to be a theme: everyone is wearing lots, and we mean LOTS, of jewellery. Although, as far as we’re concerned, we’re more likely to be donning Claire’s Accessories than Cartier for our next fest.
