Last year Nike retro’d its cult classic Air Max Goadome and sold out units across the board. However, it wasn’t the standard high top versions that sold like hotcakes, but the Low top Goadome instead. Gaining huge online momentum, people were proudly showing off how to style the shoe, many assuming that the shoe must be new.
I myself had seen the standard high top Goadome retro over the past decade, with the shoe originally coming out in 2000. Although, this was the first time that I’d ever seen Nike ‘cut off the roof’ on the Goadome, so like everybody else, I thought Nike had created a new version of the silhouette, one that was more streetwear-friendly.

This was until I was browsing the 2006 version of Footlocker’s US site (don’t ask me why), when I discovered the Goadome Lo among the other decades-old selection of sneakers. There they were, the Nike Air Max Goadome Low for a whopping $134.99, which seems like a lot for a sneaker in 2006. However, after some quick maths, the ‘Domes would only run you back £73, so not too bad afterall.

Comparing the vintage version of the Goadome Low to the version that came out in 2025, it’s clear to see that changes have been made - necessary ones at that. The ‘banana toe’ is nowhere to be seen, the mini-Swoosh has been moved, as well as a general shift in panelling across the upper. The newest version is a great update, perfectly fitting into the Timberland-alternative and Gorpcore space, all without losing its essence.
For those who missed out on the first triple black colourway, Nike is introducing a new and more sleek version this Thursday June 18th 2026. While the laymen might not be able to tell the difference between the two, take a closer look and the changes become apparent.
No embossed Swoosh on the upper, a complete overhaul to the lacing system and eyestays, opting for an almost speed-lacing system instead. The perforations on the heel are no more, as well as an update to the ones near the lacing to actually increase airflow.
If you’re a fan of Nike’s Goadome and have questioned where the silhouette is heading next, you’re not alone. After Wale’s friends & family snake print pair, Yeat’s Complecon exclusive edition and how much of a moment the Low had online, why hasn’t the Swoosh pushed the shoe further? Well, there’s every chance the brand is planning more behind the scenes, and given how heavily they’ve featured across the culture, be that in the Corteiz lookbooks or celebrity on-foots, they’d be silly not to drop more of the Goadome Low.
If you ask me, the collaborative editions and surprise in demand has likely caused the slower production. In order to get those wheels turning again involves a huge number of company politics, which in result has led the Goadomes trajectory to slow right down.
