Legend has it that the term "4/20" originated back in 1971 when five high school students in California were searching for an abandoned cannabis crop. Meeting at 4:20pm everyday to blazer up against a statue of Louis Pasteur, their tradition quickly spread across the world, leading April 20th to be called "Weed Day".
To celebrate, we've handpicked five blazin' hot weed-inspired sneakers that you should definitely know about. While there are a few that you would definitely have heard of, there are also some not-so-obvious pairs, so make sure you check it out! Let us know what you think of these, and be sure to keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for the latest and greatest sneaker news and releases!
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 6 "Cactus Jack" While the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 6 "Cactus Jack" isn't an obvious choice when it comes to Mary Jane-inspired shoes, when you really think about it, it'll begin to make sense. Released last year in 2019, La Flame's AJ6 is painted in a marijuana green and even features a secret pocket on the ankle to store your stash. It's even decked out with a glow-in-the-dark Air midsole so they're even trippier in the dark.
Nike SB Dunk High "Cheech And Chong" One of the lesser-known weed-influenced trainers, 2011's Nike SB Dunk High "Cheech And Chong" pays homage to the headwear worn by legendary stoner duo Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin. With a mismatched white and red upper that will have you seeing double, only 1000 pairs of these were made worldwide, so they're pretty rare to say the least.
BAIT x adidas Stan Smith Vulc "Happy" Back in 2016, the BAIT x adidas Stan Smith Vulc "Happy" brought sneakerheads back to their happy place. Crafted from hemp, the entire upper is decorated with a stoned-out pattern that is heat pressed for a textured look and feel. Around the back, a hairy suede heel is a nod to the texture of a joint, and it's all rounded off with a "PRESCRIBED" tag at the tongue, finalising the design.
Nike SB Dunk Low "Green Hemp" While the Swoosh's skateboarding division is now known for their crazy Devil's Grass-inspired creps, it all began back in 2004 with the strangely understated Nike SB Dunk Low "Green Hemp". Releasing as part of the highly coveted "Hemp Pack", only 420 pairs (obviously) were made worldwide, so it's safe to say that these are pretty rare.

Nike SB Dunk High "Skunk" And last but not least, you can't have a list dedicated to weed-inspired sneakers with mentioning 2010's Nike SB Dunk High "Skunk". Perhaps the most iconic of them all, the "Skunk Dunk" was dipped in a cannabis colourway with purple accents featuring throughout - a nod to the strain that was popularised by Jimi Hendrix back in the '60s. You'll even find a not-so-subtle stash pocket behind the tongue, making these the ultimate 4/20 trainers.
