A 7-Day Wear Test Review Of The Cole Buxton Wilson

The Cole Buxton Wilson sneaker has been on our radar since news first dropped of the silhouette last year. Featuring handcrafted Italian materials, luxury production details and a timeless design, it’s no wonder the Wilson has a £295 price tag. What we wanted to know was, is it worth the price? To put this to the test, I wore the CB Wilsons everyday for 7 day’s straight to get a feel for the shoe and understand if it could hold up to its competitors.

Straight away, the Wilson sneaker immediately catches eyes with its sleek design and high-quality materials. Many have compared the sneaker to the Common Projects Achilles and it’s easy to see why, as both shoes take a timeless approach to design which avoids the trends and gimmicks of the time. Much like the design ethos Cole Buxton brings to their garments, the Wilson is all about quality and wearability. I went for the triple white colourway which comes with a pair of pink mohair laces, however I opted for the standard white laces for the sake of wearability.

One of the biggest points to stress about this shoe is the sizing. I ordered in my usual size, however after a week of testing I would strongly recommend going at least a half size up. Due to the unique construction of the rubber outsole, which extends higher than traditional sneakers, there is less wear and stretch in the leather than you’d expect. While this was unexpected, it does mean that the shoe also doesn’t lose its shape as much as other leather sneakers and even creases less!

Throughout the wear test, I put the CB Wilson through its paces. I’m talking daily tube journeys, pushing prams through the rain, long walks round shopping centres, busy days in The Sole Supplier office and chasing a toddler through museums. While there was a small breaking in period, by the end of the first day the shoes were already feeling comfy and easy to wear.

Whilst I was initially concerned with only being able to wear one pair of shoes for a whole week, it meant I was able to test these out with a lot of different outfits and personally, I think they looked sick with absolutely every outfit. Of course they pair easily with jeans and trousers, but I even found they looked banging in a pair of shorts as well. You can easily dress this shoe up or down and have yourself a great outfit.

After a full week of wear, I would definitely say the Wilson sneaker is worth the hype and worth the price. I put this sneaker through its paces and even after a full week of wear the leather has shown minimal creasing or wear, a real testament to the quality of materials used and the thoughtful design of the shoe. While I do wish I chose a size up, the comfort of this shoe is still incredible.
