As women within the sneaker scene, getting our hands on a good pair of kicks can often feel a lot harder than it should. We often find ourselves missing out on high-heat releases due to a lack of size options, and women’s-exclusive silhouettes have a habit of falling into the "pink it and shrink it" trap. Luckily, thanks to the hard work of a lot of our favourite women in sneakers, the industry is changing for the better.
Nike, in particular, is aiming to make its women's offering a huge focus going forward, and the Swoosh brand is kicking things off with the seriously stunning Air Max Bliss and Air Max 90 Futura. Forming part of the iconic Air Max family, these models are packed with tech, and already come in a number of colourways, so you’re bound to find a pair that suits your vibe.

Though a new model for the Swoosh, the Air Max Bliss perfectly channels the Y2K vibes that have been taking over social media, while managing to look somewhat futuristic all at the same time. This means that the silhouette stays very much in line with the existing Air Max family, instead of feeling somewhat try-hard. It's a natural extension of the range that just happens to be made for the girls.
The AM Bliss arrives in a retro, sporty shape and slots perfectly into the chunky trainer category, and a mix of textures, bold blocks of colour, and decorative Swooshes all build out the aesthetic. Not only are they bang-on trend, but Nike says that the shoe’s shape is inspired by the natural flow and motion of nature, blended with notes from modern tech. Staying true to the theme, the Bliss is made from at least 20% recycled materials by weight, making it a more sustainable option too.
The Nike Air Max 90 Futura puts a spin on the classic AM90 silhouette, giving a new lease of life to Tinker Hatfield's design. This pair features a mixed-material make-up, with a mesh base giving way to leather overlays and scattered panel details. Chunky tongue tabs and raised leather Swooshes add an edgy touch, while a classic AM90 midsole unit sits underfoot.
It's a fun, futuristic twist on the classic - and just another reason we're convinced that the future of female-focused sneaker releases lies in Nike's hands.
