Adidas and Edison Chen have once again joined forces for the launch of a new colourway for the CLOT superstar, with a campaign starring adidas athlete and NBA player Anthony Edwards.
The resulting creation is a play on the adidas Superstar, this time rendered in brown stripes, with an orange strip above the base and serrated laces and detailing. The rubber sole, too, is serrated, calling to mind some kind of anime creature, tracking with the anime-themed campaign by artist Annie Choi.
The shoe feels quintessentially CLOT, Chen's Hong Kong-based streetwear label, which was founded to bridge the gap between the East and the West by combining archetypal Chinese motifs with western streetwear and sneaker culture.

Of course, fashion's collaboration with Anime is nothing new. The genre is rich in stylised aesthetics that make for prime inspiration for designers. From the Gucci x Doraemon capsule to Loewe’s Spirited Away collection to Balmain x Pokemon, fashion and anime have a symbiotic relationship, bringing together two loyal fanbases.
It's not the first time adidas and CLOT have joined forces either, having been linking up for collabs on various sneaker re-works and a Chinatown-esque shopping bag ZX Flux since 2008.
The CLOT superstar will be available to purchase from July 25.
