Jordan Brand is gearing up for an epic year thanks to a killer lineup of releases for 2025. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, there's news that the Air Jordan 5 'Fire Red' which originally dropped in 1990 is making a comeback for its 35th anniversary.
According to sneaker pundit zSneakerHeadz, the highly anticipated retro is confirmed for a release in Fall 2025. The “Fire Red” Air Jordan 5 is one of the four original colourways to drop back in 1990, along with "Grape", “Black Metallic” and “White Metallic”. Staying true to the version that Michael Jordan rocked on court, this OG retro features his #23 stitched on the heel.
The “Fire Red” Air Jordan 5 was retro'd for the first time in 2006, then again in 2013 and even returned as a low cut version in 2016. Despite all the re-releases, it has never been reissued with a "Nike Air" on the heel, a detail heavily reveered within the Jordan community. Moreover, previous releases had altered the font on the embroidered "23" on the heel, an important detail we expect to return on the OG in the 2025 release.
