Frequent Jordan Brand collaborator Aleali May is back once again with a fresh-new collection titled the “Fortune ” capsule. Spearheaded by an Air Jordan 14, the capsule also features a whole load of apparel pieces. This is her fifth collection with the Swoosh and this time around it pays homage to her family's Filipina and black heritage. The kicks focus on a green hue that represents jade, a mineral that was once gifted to May by her grandmother in the form of a set of bangles that are said to represent good fortune.
In an interview with Jordan Brand she stated “Throughout my collaborations, I always try to go back and say thank you to whoever was supporting me at the time. My grandmother on my dad’s side gifted me gold and jade bangles that she’d had for 20 years before that. As a young girl, my grandmother on my mom’s side also gifted me her jade bangles. Those were my first pieces of jewelry.”
The kicks themselves are primarily crafted from supple suede across the uppers, with branding coming in the form of a Jumpman badge on the lateral side and an embroidered logo on the toe box. Jade green accents complement the otherwise sandy colourway perfectly, while the box also comes complete in a matching hue, making these an ideal limited-edition pair for the collectors amongst us.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the upcoming Aleali May x Air Jordan 14 “Fortune”, then the good news is that along with the whole collection, they’re due to release on August 19th via the Nike SNKRS app and select retailers.
