As a brand that's slowly been creeping onto everyone's radar in the past year or so, Awake NY has seemingly moved from strength to strength with its capsule-related efforts. This time around, the New York-based label has dedicated its latest launch to legendary Jazz musician and poet Gil Scott-Heron with a concise capsule of apparel-based goods.
For those unfamiliar with Gil Scott-Heron, he was a Jazz singer, poet, author, and spoken-word performer during the 1970s and 1980s. Famed for such works as "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," Scott-Heron is often credited as "one of the most important progenitors of rap music."
The capsule itself is concise in its offerings, simply delivering a handful of multiseasonal styles. Included, we see a hoodie, a short-sleeved shirt, and two renditions of a long-sleeved T-Shirt, a button-down, a cap, and a rug. Each piece features references to Gil Scott-Heron's back catalogue offering a touch of distinctive style. Standouts include the “Camp Shirt," which features printed graphics similar to his famed poetry book Now and Then.
For those looking to get their hands on this collaboration, it is currently available on Awake NY's website for purchase. In other fashion news, END. x Human Made present their collaborative "Sushi" collection.
