Good things come to those who wait. Basketcase and New Balance are finally dropping a shoe for the public.
Previous collaborations between the two have been hugely limited, with small size runs, location exclusivity and Friends & Family editions driving up the hype. Now, the gallery drops the most ‘Basketcase’ shoe yet with this vintage-inspired version of the NB 204L.
Dubbed “Pine Valley”, the shoe looks like it was pulled straight from a thrift-store goldmine. Rich brown nubuck, breathable mesh underlays, and hiking-style lace hooks give it a ‘70s outdoor gear aesthetic — think LL Bean boots and vintage New Balance Rainiers.
This 204L isn’t just about looks — it’s a natural extension of Basketcase’s ethos. The LA label, founded by Zach Kinninger, thrives on scarcity, storytelling and soul. Known for monthly small-batch drops and a website that only opens once a month, the brand’s approach is the antithesis of fast fashion.
Kinninger compares his creative process to a hip-hop producer digging through crates: it’s about editing, refining, and building something timeless from the past.
The accompanying Run Home video campaign only deepens the narrative. Set in a dreamy, slow-motion version of suburban America, it captures a figure running through picket-fence streets to ethereal piano keys. It's an abstract take on memory, escape and homecoming that matches the shoe’s nostalgic undertones.
Releasing via Basketcase.gallery on 12 December, with a global drop through New Balance and select UK retailers such as Offspring on the 19 December 2025, it’s priced at £120.
For those who missed out before, this one’s your shot. For those who’ve been watching since day one.
