After a long partnership between LEGO and adidas which saw numerous collaborative releases - including the now iconic LEGO adidas Superstar - the Danish toy company has announced they will be entering a new multi-year partnership with Nike. Whilst Nike and LEGO are two of the biggest brands in the world, the collaboration between the two might not be what you expect.
Although little has been officially announced about the collaboration, a press statement released by Nike seems to make clear that this collaboration is focused on nurturing creativity and engagement in sports for young children. Some fans might be sad that we won’t be getting a LEGO Dunk set anytime soon, but we’re glad to see the two brands staying true to their values and offering an authentic collaboration.
“Together, with the LEGO Group, we’re excited to invite all kids into a new vision of sport and creative play.” - Cal Dowers, VP, Global Kids
In a small teaser released by the brands on Instagram, we can see numerous references to both brands such as a Minifigure head with a Swoosh smile, a LEGO pegasus horse which makes reference to Nike’s Pegasus line, and a LEGO duck, which was LEGO Group’s first product and an animal associated with Oregon.
