Trends come and go, but every once in a while, we'll be treated to something that's seemingly here to stay. Born out of the manual labour industry, workwear goods have shared the limelight in fashion for quite some time now due to their timeless style, hardwearing constructions, and various silhouettes.
At the forefront of the workwear trend, two key players are helping drive the trend to new heights, namely, Dickies & Carhartt WIP. With both brands offering their own distinctive take on things, we thought it would be a good idea to show you precisely how you can get the workwear look without breaking the bank and without compromising on style.
The following outfits have been made up of both Dickies and Carhartt WIP clothing directly from ASOS' website, so don't forget to check out ASOS' full selection of goods and apparel right here!
With one of workwear's main themes being the use of neutral colours, it's really simple to create some dynamic pairings! Here we have a classic pairing consisting of a plaid overshirt, a fishing-inspired Carhartt WIP T-Shirt with a casual graphic, and the Carhartt WIP Jet Extra-Relaxed Cargo Pant.
With each individual colour on a neutral scale, this outfit can easily be worn together at any point of the year. Colour can easily be introduced too, as we've done here with a pair of adidas Spezials on the feet. Top this off with your favourite beanie or cap, and you're on to a winner!
With summer firmly in full swing, now is the time to embrace the ongoing short-sleeved shirt trend! As one of workwear's most utilised silhouettes, the short-sleeved shirt bridges that gap between formal and carefree to produce a distinctly stylish look.
Here we've paired a colour-blocked rendition of the Dickies Eddyvile shirt with Carhartt WIP's Aviation Slim Cargo shorts and a corduroy cap. Once again, we've utilised cream shades against a deep olive, creating a subdued colour palette acceptable for all occasions. On the feet, we've added a pink pair of Birkenstock Bostons, adding a splash of colour and keeping with the relaxed theme of the look.
Whether it's a cooler summer or we're making the transition into autumn, it's imperative we have those transitional layers in our wardrobe to aid us in our quest for stylish 'fits. Here we've doubled up on Dickies on the upper layers, pairing the brand's plain long-sleeve tee with a Duck Canvas Gilet.
Black and white layers work in unison to create contrast, giving room for Carhartt's Nolan Relaxed Straight Jean to shine on the lower layers. Continuing with the canvas theme, the Carhartt WIP Bayfield Tote Bag offers another shade of blue and increases practicality. With a pair of New Balance 991 Made in UK "Grape Juice" on the feet, this is an outfit truly built from the ground up.
