How do you hype up a brand-new sneaker? Getting one of the most recognised names in the sporting world to don them on his surprise return to tennis seems as good a way as any.
After 139 days away from the court due to injury, Carlos Alcaraz made his unexpected, emphatic return yesterday, with a straight-sets victory at the US Open. It wasn’t just the impressive performance that had people talking, though...
Before the match, Nike had taken to Instagram, sharing a teaser of Alcaraz warming up in a low-lit arena, decked out in an unreleased Travis Scott tennis capsule, with the brand’s long-time collaborator La Flame joining as narrator and hype man.
Shortly after, Alcaraz would debut a Cactus Jack Court kit, complete with brown-white gradient vest and shorts, and slick-looking Nike Zoom Vapor 12s, complete with the signature Cactus Jack reverse swoosh.

Scott was in attendance, too, cheering on from the crowd in a sky-blue Cactus Court sweater, which forms part of the collection, alongside a textured Air Force 1 Low in a similar blue colourway that’s also been teased in a separate clip of the two.
Nike had given little away about the collection prior to its on-court unveiling. Initially, it’ll be available exclusively at a New York Cactus Court pop-up, though a cactusjack.com online release has also been teased for September 4th. Get those notifications on and be the first to know.
