Back in May 1939, Batman made his first ever appearance in Detective Comics #27. Since then he's become a household name, starring in a ton of issues, video games, and movies, with the next one set to hit cinemas in 2021. To celebrate eighty years of the Caped Crusader, Converse has unveiled a six-piece collection that's sure to be a favourite among sneakerheads and comic enthusiasts.
Comprising of two Chuck 70s, two pairs of All Stars, and two low-tops, each shoe takes its design from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, adopting a Pop Art style that was all the rage during these eras. Some models feature a comic stripe style design, while others peppered with repeated logos for a retro aesthetic that's sure to turn heads.
"Part of the approach here was to celebrate the different eras of Batman as he's evolved through the decades – after all it is his anniversary!"; explains Converse Footwear Designer, Matthew Sleep. "There's been so many wonderfully talented people that have touched the Batman franchise, with differing artistic styles, that we wanted to do our best to showcase that through the medium of our shoes";
If you're a fan of any of these shoes, the Converse x Batman collection is set to hit shelves on October 1st over at select stockists, followed by a release at Converse.com on October 21st.
