Known for its previous high-profile Nike and Jordan Brand collaborations, Los Angeles-based streetwear boutique Union is back at it once again, this time working on one of the most historical Nike silhouettes of all time. The Union LA x Nike Cortez has just been leaked and fans are already going wild over the new and improved look of the classic sneaker.
Originally released all the way back in 1972, the Cortez was essentially the first-ever modern running sneaker, and was designed by Nike co-founder and Oregon track coach Bill Bowerman. It has since gone on to become a cultural staple and has been worn by many famous faces over the years, most notably by the fictional character Forrest Gump in the classic movie of the same name.
Decked out in a wheat-like colourway, the sneakers look to be crafted from a range of materials including suede, nubuck and canvas. Red and blue accents feature across the design including Nike’s signature Swoosh on either side and Union’s iconic logo embroidered onto the heels. Dual-branded tongues and insoles also make an appearance, with a tonal speckled sole rounding off the look perfectly.
As of yet it’s unclear if or when these will release, as so far we’ve only seen leaked photos, but make sure to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier, as we’ll update you with any more information as it happens. In the meantime browse the rest of our site and check out the recently-unveiled Nike Blazer “Cleveland Rocks”!
