Autumn, or fall to our cousins across the pond, is finally here! Along with the chilly weather and long nights, this season brings the opportunity to dig out those layered looks from your wardrobe and dress for both cosiness and warmth.
For years now, one piece that has outlasted both seasons and trends is the humble fleece jacket. The piece first arrived back on the scene during the 1970s as climbers and outdoor explorers looked for weatherproof clothing with less water absorbency, and since it has remained an outerwear staple leading to its later adoption by streetwear and other fashion subsects.
Given the change in seasons, we thought we would highlight three of our favourite fleece jackets available from Size?, with each bringing its own unique twist on the classic silhouette. Check out our suggestions below, or alternatively, take a look at the Size? outerwear selection here.
Our first addition arrives courtesy of the Three-Stripe brand, offering a uniquely retro approach to styling. With a modest price point and quality at its very core, this fleece jacket is ideal for anyone looking for both essential comfort and style.
It's formed from 100% polyester fleece, constructed to a regular fit with dropped shoulders, a quarter zip fastening and ribbed trims to keep the heat locked in. Atop its soft fleece outer, you'll note a primarily blue appearance complete with contrasting black and white patterns. In addition, adidas' famed Trefoil logo is featured both on the centre of the chest and at the rear of the neck.
At just £70, this fleece is ideal for anyone looking for a winter essential that won't break the bank.
Next up on our list, we have what some might consider an obvious choice. For years now, outerwear expert The North Face has provided us with some of the best layered looks, and this Black Box Denali Fleece Jacket is surely one of them.
It arrives with a 100% polyester construction, with a super soft Sherpa fleece outer. Across its relaxed fit body, you'll see multiple zip pockets and air mesh panels, providing functionality when you need it most. As the name might suggest, this piece features three separate iterations of The North Face's famed Black Box Dome logo, with each showcasing a contrasting white hue.
At £160, this jacket isn't the cheapest, but seeing as it's guaranteed to hold up for years to come, it's worth considering this one an investment.
Our third and final piece on the list arrives courtesy of Columbia, yet another outerwear icon with a decorated history of producing some of the most revered pieces on the market.
Just like the last two offerings on the list, this jacket arrives with a soft polyester construction with a soft-to-the-touch finish. On its exterior, you'll note a retro colour-blocked pattern consisting of green, beige and blue hues. In addition, a Columbia logo is featured on the chest, offering subtle branding.
Price at £70, this piece is ideal for anyone looking for an affordable piece with quality at its core.
