Following the recent unveiling of the ASICS GEL-KAYANO-14 “OOO” collaboration, longtime partners Concepts and New Balance are gearing up for another exciting project.
After reimagining the iconic "Seal" 999 into the "Hours and Days" 1906 earlier this year, the duo is now preparing to drop a collaborative iteration of the New Balance 740.
Early glimpses of the upcoming release were shared by @Arab_lincoln on Instagram, showcasing the sneaker boutique’s latest take on this lesser known silhouette. The design features a gradient mesh upper transitioning from light green at the heel to dark green at the toe, giving the shoe a dynamic, tech inspired look.
At first glance, the sneakers bear a resemblance to the ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 “Out of Office.” However, the unique details quickly set them apart. Light grey overlays accentuate the toe and quarter panels. A vibrant orange tongue complements the matching “N” logo on the medial side, adding bold pops of colour. Beneath it all, a tan Abzorb cushioned midsole provides comfort, paired with cork insoles for an elevated touch.
The collaboration exemplifies Concepts and New Balance's shared ability to breathe new life into archival designs. The 740, originally a relatively obscure silhouette from the early 2010s, is reimagined here for a contemporary audience.
This partnership continues to uncover hidden gems and revitalise them with a modern take; proving once again why these brands remain at the forefront of the modern sneaker culture.
