For the past fifty years or so, the sneaker game has remained pretty static for the most part. New models drop, they're copped, then collected or resold. That's just how it's been since the beginning of time. This begs the question though: Where do we go from here? That's where Flowers For Society come in.
A brand new sneaker brand from the innovative mind of Till Jagla, who was previously adidas' Global Head of Energy for over a decade, this might just be the next step in the trainer industry. Combining the world of sneaker collecting with NFTs, while you won't get to physically wear the silhouettes, you can still do everything else with them. Whether it's having them in the vault or selling them off, this brand new eco-system could be the future of footwear as we know it.
Still in its very early days, Flowers For Society's first sneaker, dubbed the SEED.ONE, takes the chunky sneaker trend to another dimension. With an all-grey colour palette, the upper is crafted from a menagerie of materials including felt, mesh, and suede. The midsole, on the other hand, looks like it's been 3D printed and decked out with a series of perforations for an organic aesthetic.
According to FFS, "by purchasing the first sneaker, you will gain access to our metaverse community. The corresponding NFT is a certificate of authenticity and membership, which will be the key to participating in future sneaker releases, limited editions, and collaborations."
On top of all of this, Flowers For Society plans to build an educational centre in Vietnam to teach people about all-things footwear manufacturing-related. The first launch is scheduled for November 6th, so make sure you keep it locked at their official Instagram page for more info! Let us know what you think of this concept, and while you're here, you might as well read our latest Under The Influence interview with Till Jagla himself, where we discuss what got him into sneakers in the first place, his time at the Three Stripes, and so much more!
