It's been around two weeks since Demna from the now-fallen Balenciaga stated, "fashion to me can no longer be seen as entertainment," and yet here we are again. With sweeping statements like this, one might think that Balenciaga would make an effort to continue with a sense of normality after its stripped-back Winter 2023 show, but that isn't the case.
The brand has now released its latest denim renditions, a duo of pieces that we previously saw at its Summer 2023 “The Mud Show." You might remember “The Mud Show” because of Kanye West's appearance as he marched down the mud-ridden runway, quicker than he marched into everyone's bad books around a week later, but we digress.
These latest denim pieces sport a Japanese construction, each heavily destroyed and covered in what we hope is mud. The rear of the jacket looks like it's about one catch on the door handle away from tearing off your body completely, but you'll be glad to know at least two of the pockets still work. Its trouser counterpart almost looks a shade of normal from the front, but from the back, they look like they've received a mauling from a grizzly bear.
After somehow deciding it deserves to raise its prices, these two Balenciaga denim pieces will now cost you $3,150 USD for the jacket and $2,450 USD for the jeans. For those who don't have that kind of cash, don't panic! You can achieve a similar look by whacking on a pair of Levi's and jumping out of a moving vehicle on the M6. In other fashion news, Nike responds to allegations of "cult-like" atmosphere and assault at Tom Sachs' studio.
