Dutch sneaker retailer Patta are by far one of the most highly-regarded names in the sneaker industry, and now the store is set to work with Nike once again on two brand-new Air Max 1s for 2021. Patta’s earlier efforts on the AM1 are widely-considered to be some of the best releases of all time, just ask any OG sneakerhead. For the first time ever, we’ve got our hands on some detailed images of the “Monarch” colourway that’s set to release later on this year.
The Air Max 1 is a classic Nike silhouette that was designed by Tinker Hatfield all the way back in 1987. Ever since, it’s remained a street-style classic and has paved the way for hundreds of epic collaborations since. It seems that Patta has indeed altered some of the panelling here though, with the mudguard showcasing a curved look in multiple places.
From what we can see here, the uppers are crafted from a mix of supple suede, athletic mesh and synthetics, showing classic AM1 lines and colour blocking. The colourway consists of orange hues that sit on top of a white and grey base layer. Nike’s Swoosh logo features on both the lateral and medial sides and again in mini-Swoosh format on the toe box, combined with Patta branding on the tongues for a real collaborative touch.
This sits on top of a pre-yellowed midsole, which appears to be quite a trend as of late. Situated beneath the heel is a visible Nike Air cushioning unit that provides all the comfort and support one might need when wearing these for extended periods of time. While we don’t yet have any further details, you can expect these to drop alongside the accompanying “Aqua” colourway later on this year.
