Chances are, if you’ve ever set foot in a gym, or scrolled down your Instagram feed for more than 30 seconds, you’ve probably come across Gymshark. Founded in 2012 by (then teenager) Ben Francis, the activewear brand have taken social media by storm thanks to their flattering fits and eye-catching styles. Not only that, but the quality is great and their prices are pretty reasonable too. But, if you’re new to the brand, knowing how Gymshark fits can be tricky, and it does vary from style to style.

To answer your questions, we’ve put together this handy Gymshark size guide to go over any questions you may have about the brand and give a quick review of each product while we're at it.

Gymshark Size Guide

Generally how does Gymshark clothing fit?

As with all gym clothes, Gymshark sizing is designed to be form-fitting. This means that most of the styles fit true to size, with a couple of sizes fitting smaller depending on their compression levels. You’ll notice this more with the Gymshark leggings sizing, as some of these will have a more compressive fit round the waist in order to help them stay in place throughout your gym sesh, but you can always check the Gymshark size chart to make sure you’re on the right track.

The sizing can vary depending on the item, style, and sport it was developed for, so keep reading to find out more.

How do Gymshark leggings fit?

“"Gymshark leggings fit great but make sure you pick the right style for your workouts."”

Leggings can be incredibly tricky to get right and that's no different with Gymshark. Varying materials, cuts and styles mean it can be difficult to get the perfect fit consistently.

Generally we’ve found Gymshark leggings sizing varies by style depending on compression, and that high waisted styles tend to have more compression and fit tighter. Some people find the high rise Gymshark Flex Legging sizing (the OG style with the contouring colourblocking) to be a little longer in the inside leg, and others had to go up a size in the Energy Seamless style.

We’ve found from experience that one of the most comfortable gym legging styles is the Vital Seamless Leggings, which is compressive yet stretchy. Most styles are sweat-wicking and squat-proof, which are features you’ll definitely want from your pair of leggings.

Of course, the styles will depend on their discipline- so the Gymshark running legging sizing will fit much tighter than a rest day jogger.

How do Gymshark sports bras fit?

“"Having the right sports bra fit is so important, and Gymshark makes some of the comfiest."”

A well-fitting sports bra will provide support and minimise any impact you might feel from your workout. Again, your Gymshark sports bra sizing will vary in fit depending on what activity it is made for. If you’re looking at a style built for high-impact exercise such as athletics or HIIT, like the Training Sports Bra, it’ll be more snug than a low-support or rest-day style like the Adapt Camo or Flex Sports Bra. This is to keep you safe, comfortable and protect from long-term damage.

As a general rule of thumb, a sports bra should fit tighter than a regular bra, but not tight enough to restrict your breathing, it shouldn’t ride up if you lift your arms and you should be able to fit a finger between the straps and your shoulders. We always recommend picking a sports bra that fits properly, however, most Gymshark styles feature removable padding so you can adjust the support and coverage as you like. Go with your true size and you should have no worries!

How do Gymshark tops fit?

“"From form-fitting crops to oversized fits, Gymshark tops have you covered."”

Gymshark stock a wide range of gym tops in multiple styles and fits, which is great because let’s face it - no matter how good the fit, not everyone is confident in just leggings and a sports bra.

For snug, form-fitting crop tops like the Vital range we recommend sticking to your regular size so that the material stays close enough to your body to wick the sweat away.

In looser styles like the regular fit Pulse tee, go for your regular size as it’s already cut to allow for movement and airflow. If you’re looking for just a baggy tee to throw on whilst lifting some weights, Gymshark do a couple of both oversized and regular fit t-shirts, so you should still stay comfy if you go for your true size.

In general, most Gymshark sizing stays pretty true to size, although a couple of styles can be on the small size. With workout clothes, it’s important that your clothing fits correctly. Too tight and you won’t be able to move properly, too big and it may bag up in all the wrong places and leave you feeling uncomfortable.

Although Gymshark quality is pretty good, like any gym wear it’s likely to be put through its paces. Gymshark usually lasts quite well, but making sure your workout clothes are correctly fitting will help it last even longer- another reason you don’t wanna be bursting at the seams. The price point is pretty reasonable for the quality- it's not the most technical gym gear in the world, but it’ll see you through a good amount of HIIT classes or spin sessions (and the post-gym coffee run)!

In general, your Gymshark sizing needs to be pretty form-fitting, but with so many styles on offer and the idea of comfort being so personal, it can sometimes take some trial and error to get right, so be sure to refer back to our Gymshark size guide.
