Original article 2/9/23: Having dominated the b-ball market over the past couple of years, Nike continues to pull from its archive, now renewing its focus on the Air Flight 89 silhouette. The Air Jordan 4-inspired model is about to celebrate its 35th anniversary, but to help give the style an extra push, it’s enlisted the help of long-term collaborator, Stüssy .
With a rumoured three colourways on the horizon, we’ve just been given our very first look at the Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 “White/Red” . Boasting a real retro aesthetic, the pair comes crafted with white leather uppers, while bright red accents dial up the details. Towards the forefoot, snakeskin overlays come courtesy of Stüssy’s touch - the print matching one seen on a pair of trousers from the brand’s FW23 collection . The Cali-born label then adds its seal of approval in the form of its own branding hits: its SS motif sits atop the aforementioned overlays, while Stüssy and AIR co-branding rests at the top of the tongue. Underfoot, the style comes treated to the Air Jordan 4 s signature sole unit, complete with visible Air.
As it stands, the “White/Red” Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 is the only colourway to have leaked so far, but rumour has it that we should be expecting a “Black/White” and a “White/Pecan” version too.
