Ye’s foray into basketball sneakers has been pretty controversial so far. After being told to expect an NBA ban for his reflective QNTM basketball silhouette, it's pretty fair to say that in this case, Yeezy hasn’t quite jumped over Jumpman. Because of this, his basketball-focussed ventures, including the BSKTBL KNIT took a bit of a backseat in production, giving room for the more wearable, lower-cut QNTM to break into the lifestyle scene. But, as we know, Kanye West doesn’t give up very easily, and it’s looking like the Yeezy Basketball Knit 3D “Slate Blue” will be seeing a release later this month, albeit off the court.
The Yeezy Basketball Knit hails from the same basketball lineage as Kanye’s previously banned sneakers. This time, however, it’s more the silhouette itself that would be called into question, with the soft sock-like construction providing less in the way of ankle support than most basketball focused shoes. The “Slate Blue” Yeezy Basketball Knit sees a toned-down colour palette, losing the original Yeezy Basketball shoes’ reflective elements in favour of a black, grey, blue and mixed colour Primeknit weave that changes pattern across the shoe. To finish, the “Slate Blue” Basketball Knit’s sole unit remains the same as its predecessor, dressed up in shades of grey and beige and encasing a white Boost cushion for added comfort.
Whilst we’re not sure we’ll be seeing them on the court anytime soon, we’ll definitely be spotting them out and about. The “Slate Blue” adidas Yeezy Basketball Knit 3D is set to launch on December 16 at adidas CONFIRMED, so be sure to head over now and get your raffle entry in for your best chance of securing a pair.
Up next, three new Yeezy 700s could be dropping soon.
