How Instagram is Styling The Nike Air Max 1

With Air Max Day 2022 on the horizon, no doubt you’ll be rocking Air Max 1s everyday of the week. With it being 35 years since the iconic Air bubble debuted, this year is especially poignant and should be celebrated more than ever! The sneaker that started it all, the Air Max 1 was the first introduction to sneakers that many fans had, meaning it has an outstanding legacy amongst the community. The most important of all the Air Max silhouettes in Nike’s history, the Air Max 1 was the first sneaker to put their game-changing Air bubble on display. This renowned technology is what made the Swoosh Brand what it is today, so no wonder the Air Max 1 is so highly regarded and an essential in many people’s collections.

When in doubt, wear a co-ord. Not only this, but green is always a winner, as demonstrated by @sofiaxforte. Maybe not an obvious choice to pair with the bright-orange Pattas, but an excellent risk that’s paid off well. Accessorised with a matching green baseball cap, Sofia has proven that simplistically is often the most effective way of dressing. This outfit gets top marks for being comfortable, too.

There’s something so satisfying about matching your top to your sneakers, and good, old colour-blocking is an excellent way to achieve this. @lauraaltea_ found the exact right shade of blue to match her Patta x Nike AM1s, but honestly any shade would be okay. The neutral cargos offset the colour well, and match to the vintage tones on the midsole and lace unit of the Nike Air Max 1s, making for one cohesive outfit.

Taking a break from the Pattas (they’re all over the ‘gram right now!), @ellanaus gives us a lesson in how to style the Nike Air Max 1 x atmos “Elephant”. Rereleased as part of 2017’s Air Max Day in celebration of the silhouette’s 30th anniversary, this AM1 is a grail for many. Ella pairs hers with a pair of black cuffed joggers, meaning the elephant-print sneakers are on full show, and a graphic tee in the same dark colouring.

There’s nothing better than styling your AM1s (pictured here are the Patta “Monarch” pair) with a baggy, oversized ‘fit that is dead on trend this season. @sophnsneakers dresses her Air Max down with a neutral, earthy outfit on the top, and blue denim below. The tan colour of the hoodie offsets the chocolate-brown hues of the gilet nicely; such an easy option that everyone can take inspiration from no matter their style.

If you’re someone that likes to dial down on the colour, then take notes from @fitriatjandra. Paired with Nike socks, of course, black trousers and an oversized hoodie in the same colour, there’s no overthinking that comes with this outfit. The dark, monochrome styling allows the colours of the Nike Air Max 1 x Patta “Aqua” to stand out; exactly what they were designed to do.

Go hard or go home, right? @wuzg00d styles her Patta x Nike Air Max 1s in “Monarch” with some equally bright colours. Green joggers sit at the bottom, whilst a graphic cream tee covered by a sunshine-yellow collarless jacket adds some warmth. The knitted bucket hat accompanying the outfit ties all the bright tones together. And don’t get us started on this bag - just wow.
