Nike and A Ma Maniére are reigniting their partnership with "Every Summer Tells a Story." This collection pays homage to summer traditions within Black culture, and it’s starting strong with “Act I: The Block.”
Kicking off a more expansive cultural story, this inaugural launch features the A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Force 1 “White on White” and the A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “Diffused Taupe/Phantom.” They've framed “Act I: The Block” as “a love letter celebrating the collective rhythm of movement, memory and joy,” highlighting the significant and enduring presence of both the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 in the Black community. People wore these around their local areas long before they gained global recognition, solidifying their status as summer essentials in Black life.
Let's start with the A Ma Maniére “White on White” Air Force 1. This time around, the duo have redesigned this iconic shape with purposeful thought and understated touches. You'll see premium white leather on the upper, with sleek leather overlays and a discreet "A" monogram positioned on the toe. This low cut model also sports a stitched leather tongue, a cushioned jacquard monogram lining, a pristine midsole, and a see through outsole. We see custom laser etched lace dubraes and metal eyelets added too.
Next, the A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “Diffused Taupe/Phantom” explores layering and texture. Moving onto the A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Max 95 “Diffused Taupe/Phantom,” this particular pair features a construction of top tier suede and sleek leather. You'll notice reflective 3M detailing, alongside A Ma Maniére's distinctive branding, which they've laser etched onto both the heel and the toe. A neatly stitched suede patch adorns the tongue, and inside, a luxurious jacquard satin lining pairs with a cushioned monogram insole to complete the design. Mauve tinted air units in the black composite foam midsole give it an extra lift. Plus, each pair comes with three alternate laces, letting you switch up your look.
The campaign also includes the “Act I: The Block” film. This visual experience is “rooted in the heart of Atlanta” and showcases emerging talent from the city, including Swavay, Baby Kia, Marco Plus, Jordan Bell, and Champagne Trap, alongside various local creatives.
The raffle for both these trainers is currently live on the A Ma Maniére site, and you’ve got until 23rd June, 3 p.m. EST to get your entry in. On release day, you’ll have a small window to enter the draw, and then they’ll randomly select people for a chance to buy a pair.
