Merrell heads down under to work with the folks over at Perks And Mini, creating two beautiful-techy pieces of footwear. Taking inspiration from the amphibious world, both the Cham Storm GORE-TEX and Hydro Next Gen Moc are transformed into a nature-inspired version of their former selves.

Merrell is a footwear company that’s been making the outdoors accessible since 1981, so if this project is your first entry into the brand, then lucky you (but also where have you been?). Moving from strength to the strength, the outdoor footwear brand has been busy stamping its mark in the streetwear scene these past two decades.
Not everybody gets to take a peak into the Merrell archives, so when Australian streetwear brand P.A.M. got the call, you bet they answered. Staying true to its playful yet graphically-experimental design language, the people over at P.A.M. truly made this Merrell duo its own.
The Hydro Next Gen Moc arrives in a muted teak, with flecks of brown giving the foam upper a truly amphibious feel. For those of you worried about sustainability practices, you can rest assured that the “BLOOM performance foam is made of algae biomass, transforming green water into clean water in the process”. If you’ve been looking for a summer-friendly option without having to go full flip flop, then the Hydro Moc could be that fix.
As for the Merrell Cham Storm GORE-TEX, the upper is formed from a pigeon grey textile, encased in a semi-translucent TPU cage that allows you to blend into the urban background you navigate. Taking inspiration from chameleon’s, this edition has the ability to mold to your rotation, given its muted grey mesh can work with an array of outfits and aesthetics.

The visuals don’t just stop at the footwear either, with the editorial and video campaign helping to create this otherworldly feeling around the P.A.M. collab. Countering today’s landscape of AI-dominated visuals, the quasi-Blue Man Group clips recreate the footwear via human form, a beautiful way to remind us that the shoe only means something when worn. Directed by No Text Azienda and filmed in Tokyo, we just want to give our props - the industry needs more of this!
