Earlier this month, the Swoosh brought back the legendary Nike Air Force 1 "Puerto Rico" from 2000. Made to celebrate the Puerto Rican Day Parade that's held in New York City every summer (except this summer, for obvious reasons) the official release was pushed until the end of June. However, it now looks it's been scrapped altogether.
In an official statement from Nike, a spokesperson said, "Nike is removing the shoe from the marketplace, as it was intended to be a re-release of the Air Force 1 Low Puerto Rico from 2000 and the final product does not accurately reflect the original design." Thus confirming the cancellation.
What they really mean is that the Puerto Rican flag on the tongue has been embroidered the wrong way so they've been forced to pull the shoe from shelves. With that said, some retailers did manage to sell a few pairs earlier this month and a few lucky sneakerheads are now reselling the Air Force 1 for up to £500 a pop.
