Lil Uzi just announced his upcoming collaboration with Vans for 2027 and it's exactly what the brand needs. Rumoured to be Uzi’s burner account, the artist dropped a collection of sample images with the caption “First look. Lil Uzi Vert x Vans (unreleased).🏌🏼♂️🛹 (OG colorway samples)🩰🪰 2027.”

From the Instagram dump, it would seem as though Uzi and Vans are working on three different pairs. One of them being a pink checkerboard Slip-On, and the two others being a chunkier 2000s skate shoe which looks like the Linzie from 2008.
Along with samples of the silhouette, the dump references a set of other ‘iconic’ pink moments such as a Lil B The Based God wearing a pink tie and Rhianna’s pink pixie cut. This gives us a glimpse into Uzi’s inspiration behind the heavily pink-hued approach to his upcoming Van’s collection.
Oh, and not to forget how he literally embedded a pink diamond into his forehead...so you could say he's a fan of the colour.
You can tell by the comment section that people are fired up, with one person commenting “UZI x VANS🙏🏼 TAKE MY MONEY”, and another questioning “Did he just make DC shoes n throw VANS on it 😭 😭 😭”. One of my personal favourite’s was, “2 hard”, keeping it to the point. It’s obvious Uzi’s fanbase are ready to back him, but how much reach does he have outside of that?

Well, Uzi is no stranger to viral moments, be it through memes, hit songs or TikTok dances – his cultural weight is enormous. Given he only posted this first look at the Vans capsule on the 27th of May 2026, give it until the end of summer and fashion heads will be rocking the checkerboard across Instagram, trying to prove how they were early to the trend.
Various fashion outlets including ourselves at The Sole Supplier have predicted the rise of Vans in 2026, and it’s certainly happening, albeit at a steady pace. Pearl and stud heavy Eras, the Souvenir editions and Satoshi collaboration have all played part in adding to Vans’ cultural kudos this year.
Searches on Google for “Pearlized Vans” are up 2000% this past year, as well as a 600% increase for the Satoshi Nakamoto Vans, so the demand for specific colourways is soaring.

However, has this translated into Vans’ general release colourways and heritage checkerboard pattern? From a more anecdotal perspective, I can’t say it has. Then again, I’m not mooching about every street corner in the UK staring at people’s feet. Regardless, I think this Uzi collaboration could send the Vans checkerboard print back into the mainstream.

It won’t be long until we see Uzi’s album marketing rollout, one that will inevitably involve him wearing the squared pattern on feet as he does his signature shoulder roll and futsal shuffle.
The announcement of the partnership is enough of a signal for the quasi-punk and fashion savvy to start rocking the print before it gets ‘played out’ in 2027. So when you see your favourite influencer wearing Slip-Ons in that black and white print towards the end of 2026, Uzi had a role in that.
