“You never know what you might create, or the change you might inspire.”

With great sadness, it has been announced that Jamal Edwards unexpectedly passed away following a sudden illness this past weekend.

Jamal first exploded onto the scene back in 2006 with the launch of his music platform SBTV. Through this outlet, Jamal showcased up and coming artists from the UK and played a key part in establishing the careers of musicians such as Dave, Ed Sheeran, Skepta, Jessie J and many others.

For his contributions to music, Jamal received an MBE in 2014 at age 24, just simply highlighting the positive effect he had on the UK music scene and youth cultures. In addition, he also was an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, a charity that helps young people set up their own companies.

Jamal got his start as a filmmaker aged 15 when he was bought a video camera for Christmas. With the intention of showcasing his friend's talents, he launched SBTV and worked tirelessly to champion unheard artists. He also made his debut as an author in 2013 when he wrote Self Belief: The Vision: How to Be a Success on Your Own Terms, a book designed to help readers better themselves and be prosperous.

Judging alone by the heartfelt tributes and messages flooding social media, it would be fair to say Jamal Edwards touched the hearts of many and will be sorely missed.

Our hearts go out to Jamal's family and friends in these difficult times.

Rest in Peace Jamal Edwards.
