After unveiling its forthcoming Nike collaboration, Supreme has teased an upcoming partnership with British activist and artist Jamie Reid!
Born in 1947, Jamie Reid was raised in Croydon, South London and eventually went to Croydon Art School where he met the future manager of the Sex Pistols, Malcolm McLaren. This lead to the duo launching a magazine called Suburban Press to protest the corruption of corporate developments of the Croydon area. Eventually, Jamie Reid would go on to design the artwork for the Sex Pistol's album "Never Mind The Bollocks" and famous singles such as "Anarchy in the UK".
In the beginning, Reid was unable to afford typography tools so he developed his style of DIY visuals which consisted of cutting clippings from newspapers and rearranging them into letters and designs. His famous ransom note like lettering became an iconic staple in the punk era.
For Supreme Spring 2021, Reid's signature style has been transferred onto a variety of stylish pieces including a varsity jacket, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shirts and much more.
With his trademark lettering, the pieces have been adorned with aggressive and bright typography featuring slogans such as "It's All Bollocks" and "Fuck All" all on a variety of colourful and stylish silhouettes.
As usual, we're predicting this Jamie Reid x Supreme collaboration will be a quick sellout when it launches on May 6th, so let us know if you manage to cop anything!
