Jerry Lorenzo’s adidas partnership has been a long time coming, but we’ve now got our first confirmed sighting of the collection’s sneaker selection. Previewed at the brand’s latest show in LA, Lorenzo sent a couple of styles down the runway - some of which certainly got the sneaker world talking. First previewed by Pusha T, who happens to have his own 3-Stripes shoe on the way, here’s a closer look at the upcoming Fear of God x adidas sneakers, courtesy of Fear of God Athletics.
Having recently shut down rumours regarding a leaked pair, it’s fair to say that the final adidas x Fear of God sneakers didn’t stray too far from the earlier sample. That, and as sneaker fans were quick to point out, they don't stray too far from the Yeezy Quantum either, or even Fear of God’s previous Nike collabs. However, as Ye was spotted dancing away in the crowd, it didn’t seem like he had too much of an issue with the design.
Taking on a high-top construction that’s typical of basketball silhouettes, the first FOG x adidas sneakers see minimal black, cream, and triple white colour palettes take over the uppers, in a colour-blocking style that’s not too dissimilar from the initial sample. The materials, however, do appear to be different, with a ribbed fabric dressing the toeboxes, and a techy-looking, smooth caging system carving out the 3-Stripes logo on the sidewalls. From here, it appears that elasticated ankles provide extra support, and both toggle and lace fastenings ensure a snug fit.
A second style was also unveiled at the show, this time arriving in a suede build. While the first style was more futuristic-looking, the accompanying pair appeared more in line with the 3-Stripes' retro basketball range. Though it's yet to be confirmed, the second style looked to be a remixed adidas Forum Hi.
What do you think of the debut models? Are they a little lazy, or does they simply speak to Lorenzo’s signature design language? Let us know, and in the meantime, check out KITH's upcoming Samba.
