Derrick Rose might be living the retired life, but his legacy is alive and kicking at adidas. After playing wingman to Jerry Lorenzo’s adidas x Fear of God Athletics II Basketball launch, the former MVP is now getting some well earned flowers in the form of a tribute sneaker.
Jerry Lorenzo recently unveiled a striking “Derrick Rose” II Basketball sample on Instagram. The design features Rose’s signature logo on the heel, bold Chicago inspired red accents, and an integrated ankle brace; a thoughtful homage to Rose’s career long battle with injuries.
In 2010, Rose launched his first signature shoe with adidas, the Adizero Rose 1, marking the beginning of his partnership with the Three Stripes. Despite enduring a career plagued by injuries, Rose’s resilience propelled him through 16 seasons in the NBA, playing for six different teams. In September, he officially announced his retirement.
Rose was also previously linked to former adidas collaborator Kanye West, who once planned a Yeezy Rose collection. The line was set to feature a ribbed slip on design reminiscent of the Foam Runner. Although the collection never made it to retail, Rose was often seen wearing the shoes on social media and during NBA tunnel arrivals.
While sneaker enthusiasts are already clamouring for a release, it remains unclear whether this model will see a public drop. With its standout design and Lorenzo’s big reveal, this one’s looking more like a player exclusive (PE) than something you’ll ever find on store shelves.
