Adding to their already extensive range of collaborative sneakers, JJJJound is now partnering up with A Bathing Ape (to the surprise of many) to release an ultra-clean BAPESTA. Following on from the Vans Sk8-Mid, Reebok Club C and Classic, New Balance 992 and 990v4, the Montreal-based designer has turned to the Japanese fashion house to bring us some simplistic, but oh-so perfect STAs.
The brand themselves revealed a first look at these sneakers on Instagram, and although reactions were mixed, it's still guaranteed that these will sell out instantly on release. Take a look at the image below.
Known for their bright colours and camouflage print, BAPE is a powerhouse when it comes to streetwear. Though, a world away from some of the BAPE colouring we are used to seeing, Justin Saunders has taken a classic JJJJound approach with this pair and stuck to a neutral palette and not strayed away from the BAPE STA we are familiar with.
The leathers used across the upper come in a slight off-white colouring, and thanks to the tumbled texture, they look extremely well-made and premium in design. The midsole matches and retains the BAPE branding at the rear, and the rounded laces correspond to this pale colouring too. At the top of the lace unit, we can spy metallic eyelets and a BAPE branding tag.
The STA logo dresses the medial and lateral sidewalls in a light-grey colouring that matches the camo print used on the box. JJJJound branding makes an impact here in gold lettering.
As well as the BAPE STA, JJJJound have revealed a clothing collection will drop as part of the collaboration too.
