This isn’t just another retro reissue. It’s a masterclass in restraint. The original Mostro, designed by Peter Schmidt and inspired by surf culture with a futuristic twist. The silhouette earned its name from the Italian word for "monster" due to its hybrid, Frankenstein-like construction. For this third JJJJound x PUMA team-up, the Mostro gets a contemporary update that dials down the chaos and dials up the sophistication.
Gone is the Mostro's signature forefoot strap, instead opting for sleek, contrasting laces which stand out against the upper. The off-white leather liner and tonal laces keep things cohesive, while the spiked black rubber outsole remains intact, a nod to the sneaker's audacious DNA.
The collection drops in two earthy, versatile tones: a deep navy blue and a rich brown . Both feature premium nubuck uppers, minimalist stitching for the PUMA Formstrip , and subtle JJJJound branding stamped on the insole. Staying true to JJJJound’s design philosophy, the focus of this collaboration is on materials, colour choices and versatility. It's about subtracting the unnecessary until only the essential remains. Even the Mostro's iconic edge feels more focused here, merging archive authenticity with minimalistic design.
