If you didn't know already, before adidas, Kanye West partnered up with the Swoosh for the coveted Nike Air Yeezy. Making its debut back in 2009, the line comprised of only two models and lasted until 2014 when Ye left over creative differences. Famously, he moved on over to the Three Stripes just a few month later, and the rest is history.
During an interview with GQ exploring his vision for the future, Ye was asked if he'd be okay with the Air Yeezy being brought back, and his response was pretty surprising to say the least. "Man, I’m with everything." he stated. "Man, anything that the kids want and the people want. People should be able to have what they want."
Since his departure from the Beaverton brand, the American rapper hasn't really said much about it, though he did take shots at the company on The Life of Pablo's "Facts". This is why we're quite shocked by his reply, but at the same time, this is pretty much the same principle that his current adidas Yeezy line goes by.
During a phone call with "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" in 2015, he famously explained that "Eventually, everybody who wants to get Yeezys will get Yeezys." And that's exactly what's happening today.
While we're certain that the Air Yeezy will never be retro'ed, it's nice to know that Nike has Ye's blessing if they're ever thinking about it. Let us know what you think of this news, and while you're here, read our piece on why the Nike Air Yeezy 2 "Red October" is the most convtroversial sneaker ever made!
