Via an Instagram post that Kanye West recently shared on his account, the rapper has stated that his latest album “Donda 2” will only be available via his newly-launched Stem Player music device. He also shared an insight as to why, claiming “Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.” The Stem Player is currently on sale via a dedicated web store with a retail price of $200.
The Stem Player also contains a feature that allows users to customise the songs by isolating specific samples and instruments, essentially allowing listeners to create their very own remixes. As of yet it’s unclear whether the upcoming album will ever make it to major-label streaming platforms, but for the time being we’d say it’s unlikely.
