As much as we love our hiking shoes, they can sometimes be difficult to style. Shoes specifically designed for the trails come with latest innovations of ultra comfortable cushioning, hyper traction with their Vibram soles, and a techy upper of water-resistant and breathable Goretex materials. Often, this technical aesthetic can look a bit awkward if you’re fully dripped out in Gorp – but the Merrell Moab Speed 2 is a resilient silhouette that can accompany you in rural and urban landscapes.
Here’s how we styled it out.
Going for a weekend walk and you need something comfortable? We’ve got you. The Merrell Moab Speed 2 Vent 2K is a strong all-day shoe. We’ve opted for the Oolong colourway, which brings a hint of freshness with its minty hue and we’ve dressed that down with brown, tan and white tones: the shorts are by Gramicci while the nylon overshirt is by MKI, and a crisp-white T-shirt (this one’s from Uniqlo) will always do the job.
When you don’t go to the trails, the trails will come to you. Ok, this is not an actual fit we’d wear in the great outdoors but it is a solid ensemble for a light precipitation forecast. We’ve styled the Merrell Moab Speed 2 Sport in the Comet/Casper colourway with this lightweight Snow Peak parka over a white tee and this Service Works canvas trouser. You’re geared up for any city adventures – whether you wear it at work or at the pub.
Dressing for the office during the summer season can be a little tough. You want to be breezy yet appropriate. This is where short-sleeved shirts come in. We’ve picked out the Toledo striped shirt by Japanese label Edwin and layered it over a Uniqlo T-shirt to keep it relaxed yet sleek on top. We’ve opted for these black workwear shorts by Carhartt WIP and, of course, the Merrell Moab Speed 2 Vent 2K in the Poplar colourway to add a hint of warmth to the clean palette. If, like us here at The Sole Supplier, you have a pretty chill dress code in your office, this is a huge shout for a staple work fit for summer.
