Contrary to popular belief, the shoe that was banned by the NBA wasn't the Air Jordan 1 "Banned", but actually the Nike Air Ship. Released the year before the AJ1 in 1984, the Air Ship was Michael Jordan's shoe of choice during his rookie years, and now after almost four decades, it's finally making a comeback.
Teased by fragment design's Hiroshi Fujiwara on Instagram, the Air Ship is painted in a clean red on white colour palette. Reportedly, it'll drop alongside the Air Jordan 1 High in its original style complete with the OG hangtag.
Both shoes will come in an oversized shoe box that's perfect for collectors, though this has yet to be officially confirmed by the Swoosh, so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops!
In terms of a release date, not much is known but our sources tell us that a 2020 drop could be on the cards. If this is the case this would definitely be one of the hottest releases of next year! If you're interested in knowing why Air Jordans were banned by the NBA back in the '80s, make sure you read this piece!
