Miu Miu's Next New Balance Sneaker Isn't Quite a 530

Did Miu Miu and New Balance just ruin the New Balance 530? Last year, Miu Miu was named one of the top luxury brands, bringing back the iconic ballet flat loved by Bella Hadid and Kate Moss. But this year, they're going one step further and taking the flat look to sneakers.

Introducing the flattened 530SL, inspired by one of our favourite retro runners, the New Balance 530. Arriving in a rough-and-ready suede, the Miu Miu x New Balance 530 is a far cry from the model’s usual mesh construction, and that’s before we even get started on the sole unit. Two colourways hit the runway - a light tan and a chocolate brown, with both bosting a pre-distressed finish reminiscent of the duo’s 574s. Underfoot though is where things really start to differ, as the style’s usual sporty sole unit has been replaced with a flatter, almost non-existent one. With Miu Miu doing the rounds on TikTok right now, could it be that the duo has taken inspiration from some of the platform’s favourite styles such as the adidas Samba and Onitsuka Tiger to maintain their title as one of the hottest brands?

So far, two colourways are set to be arriving but we still don't know where or when. In terms of pricing, be warned, as these won't come cheap. The 574s set fans back around £600 at retail, and that’s a lot to spend on a distressed denim shoe. With all this hype, do you think this collaboration is worth the wait?
